"The investment required using technology that significantly shortened thawing time of railcars. Difficulties in unloading railcars and coal delivery pile-ups have been eliminated. The process ensured the effective use of thermal energy for thawing process through monitoring and automation of the technological process. The project was performed in a strictly specified time frame."

Challenge

  • comprehensive, multi-branch modernization of the existing radiator railcar thawing system, including the implementation of necessary site works (disassembly, assembly, construction)
  • execution of necessary accompanying and finishing works

Solution

  • execution of commissioned works as part of facility modernization in accordance with the current standards
  • demolition of the old facility along with waste utilization
  • turnkey construction of a new railcar thawing system (industrial building - length 150 m, cubic capacity 14,470 m³) - working in new, changed technology
  • construction of steam pipeline and condensate pipeline with a total length of 860 m
  • construction of steel flyovers for pipelines and MV cable routes in the form of spatial and flat grid with total length of approx. 590 m
  • installation of a new MV transformer substation with a remote control system and a power switching automation system
  • assembly of object-oriented I&C equipment
  • execution of distributed control system
  • modernization of track slab

Result

  • implementation of modern technology ensuring durability of installed equipment, high efficiency, failure-free operation, cost-effectiveness, continuity of operation, improvement in safety and comfort of service
  • shorter time of railcar thawing
  • elimination of hold-ups in unloading train cars and pile-ups of coal supply
  • increasing the energy efficiency of the railcar thawing plant
